Consequence’s 15th anniversary retrospective may be over, but the Consequestionnaire rolls on with Hatchie! We’ve asked a number of former CoSigned artists to answer questions about the last 15 years, and today’s respondent is the Australian artist born Harriette Pilbeam.

As Consequence was looking back on its 15-year history, we thought it would be fun to catch up with some of the artists we’ve spotlighted over the years. We sent out our Consequestionnaire to numerous former CoSigns (known briefly as Artist of the Month), asking them to reflect on how their careers and lives have changed over the last decade and a half. Today, we continue the special Q&A with our June 2019 CoSignee, Hatchie.

Hailing from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, the artists a.k.a. Harriette Pilbeam first started catching ears with the dream pop sounds of her 2018 debut EP, Sugar & Spice. It was her followup full-length, 2019’s Keepsake, that earned her CoSign honors, and she even broke down the album track by track for Consequence readers. That recorded ended up being one of our favorites of the year, and three years later, Hatchie finally gifted us with the stellar sequel, Giving the World Away.

Along the way, she’s collaborated with Methyl Ethel, Swim Deep, Winter, and RINSE — the latter of whom she married a year ago next month. So consider Hatchie’s Consequestionnaire responses not just a celebration of the first 15 years of our publication, but the first year of her marriage. Congrats!

Check out Hatchie’s answers to the Q&A below, and see who else has filled out the form here.
