Two for the Road is a series in which two artists touring together chat about playing shows, life backstage, and more. In the latest installment of the series, Ministry mastermind Al Jourgensen and Melvins frontman Buzz Osborne share their excitement ahead of touring together.
One of the coolest tour bills of 2022 features headliners Ministry hitting the road with Melvins and Corrosion of Conformity. All three are legendary acts, making for a stacked evening of music from three bands that bring the heavy in very different ways.
The tour kicks off tonight (March 2nd) in Columbus, Ohio, and wraps up with an April 18th gig in Seattle. All told, the “Industrial Strength Tour” will hit 35 cities, with tickets available via Ticketmaster. Ministry will not only be performing songs from their recent album, Moral Hygiene, they’ll also be celebrating the belated 30th anniversary of their classic album The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste.
As part of Consequence‘s “Two for the Road” series, Ministry’s Al Jourgensen and Melvins’ Buzz Osborne got together via video Zoom to discuss the tour, their excitement about returning to the road after being sidelined due to the pandemic, and their first time hearing each other’s music.
“We’re pretty stoked [for this tour],” remarked Jourgensen. “And then to have [Melvins] and Corrosion [of Conformity] come along, this is just mind-blowing to me.” Osbourne responded, “I always thought over the years that [Ministry] would be a good band to tour with, and that it would be fun … and I’m really happy it happened now.”
The conversation between two legendary frontman also veered into unexpected topics such as Broadway shows, ballet, and Jourgensen’s love of Jeopardy! (on which he’s hoping to become a contestant). Osborne named The Book of Mormon as one of his favorite musicals, and the two bonded over their love of The Nutcracker, of all things.
