Two for the Road is an artist-on-artist interview series in which we pair two tourmates to discuss life on the road. In the latest installment of the series, Bring Me the Horizon’s Oli Sykes chats with Knocked Loose’s Bryan Garris about their current North American tour.

After kicking off with a performance at the 2022 edition of Louder Than Life, Bring Me The Horizon loaded up their tour bus, picked up Knocked Loose, grandson, and siiickbrain, and hit the road for a North American tour. Particularly eye-catching about such a bill is the combined power of Bring Me The Horizon and Knocked Loose — and it’s a matchup that almost didn’t happen.

“When we were looking for support for this tour, Knocked Loose was one of the first names that came up,” Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes explains to Consequence. But as Sykes tells it, the British rock group has always had somewhat of a love-hate relationship with the metalcore and hardcore scenes. “We were kind of still so scarred from that, like, ‘Oh, this band’s not gonna want to tour with us.’”

Fortunately for Sykes and his bandmates, Knocked Loose couldn’t have been more excited to join forces. “I was just like, ‘Man, tell them that we’re not too cool,'” Knocked Loose vocalist Bryan Garris tells Consequence. “We were immediately excited about the idea. I know that we’ve all been fans for a really long time.”

The stacked bill now comes to life as the bands make their way through the United States. The jaunt kicked off on September 24th in Brooklyn and runs through October, before both acts cap off the run with performances at the When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas.

We caught up with both Sykes and Garris just after their first few dates together to discuss the highs and lows of touring, different philosophies of live performance, and which video games keep the bands sane between shows.

Though separated by almost a decade of experience, Skye and Garris find a remarkable amount of common ground. The differences between van touring and bus touring, the feelings of doubt on stage, and the respect for the audience all prove to be universal as the two frontmen converse.
