Just in time for the holiday season, the Home Alone reboot is premiering on November 12th via Disney+, and now the trailer has arrived to give movie fans a sneak peek of what they’ll likely be watching while gathering with relatives this year. Watch the Home Sweet Home Alone preview below.
The clip opens with 10-year-old Max Mercer (played by Jojo Rabbit actor Archie Yates) in a situation familiar to his counterpart Kevin McCallister in the original. During the commotion involved in a holiday trip to Tokyo, he’s been left home alone. “They don’t even know I’m here,” he sadly laments, before realizing what having the house to himself means.
Hijinks ensue as Max attempts to eat all the candy available to him and jumps off an outside trampoline. It’s not too long, however, before a pair of hapless robbers played by Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney make their move. Faced with defending the house, Max creates all sorts of contraptions and traps that would make Macaulay Culkinproud.
The cast of Home Sweet Home Alone is rounded out by Aisling Bea, Kenan Thompson, Tim Simons, Pete Holmes, Devin Ratray, Ally Maki, and Chris Parnell. The film is directed by Dan Mazer (Dirty Grandpa) from a screenplay by Saturday Night Live’s Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell.
As for Culkin, he is rumored to make a cameo in the reboot as his original character. In the Home Sweet Home Alone trailer, Ratray can be spotted reprising his role as Buzz McCallister, who is now a police officer.
