“We started the album in Korea and finished it in the desert,” says Woosung, one of the members of Korean pop-rock band The Rose. “We really got to spend some time together and hang out, and I think that’s what felt the best.”

The Rose (made up of Woosung, Dojoon, Hajoon, and Jaehyeong) are back together as a group, and they’ve returned with a full-length studio album, HEAL, a dreamy, contemplative collection infused with nostalgia.

Over the course of HEAL‘s ten tracks, the group reflects on the passage of time, inner growth, and the joy of togetherness. The project is bookended by an instrumental intro and outro, and was introduced via lead single “Childhood.” “Sour,” meanwhile, leans further into the group’s rock sound, while the buoyant “Yes” enlists James Reid for a song perfectly designed for a long drive with the windows down.

Following the release of the album, the group sat down with Consequence to discuss coming back together for the new record and preparing to hit the road again.

“We had so much free time and were able to have a good moment of us bonding and understanding,” explains Dojoon. “That really helped us a lot.”

On October 11th, The Rose kicked off an enormous “Heal Together” world tour that began in Chicago and will take the band across the U.S. before heading to Europe in 2023. Woosung, who opened for Epik High on the trio’s recent tour, pulled out the group’s beloved cover of “ILYSB” in addition to cuts off his solo EP, MOTH, but this tour will be the band’s first time to play cuts from the new record live for fans, known as Black Roses.
